The British Museum

On our second day we went to the British Museum. Before we went I made the other girls eat fish and chips for lunch. It was delicious!
The museum was amazing! I couldn't believe it was for free! There was so much to see and learn. I loved the statues!
The highlight of the museum seemed to be the Rosetta Stone. I took this fuzzy picture of it, because there were so many people surrounding it that it was difficult to get a picture and there was too much light. The museum was definitely one of my favorite sights on the trip.

Tour of the London Centre

This is the front door to the BYU London Centre where we are staying. The next picture is across the street from it. It is such a nice building, especially for how old it is. It has been there since Brigham Young and Queen Victoria's time. The location is awesome. We are right across the street from Kensington Gardens and right down the street from Hyde Park.
This is the front entry way of the centre. Up the stairs are our rooms and classroom.
This room is right off the entry-way. It is the dining room. To the left of the dining room we have the living room. It could also be considered as a reading parlor. It is all so exquisite.

This first picture is of the fireplace in the living room. I thought it was so pretty. The next picture is of the library. It is small, but is perfect for us. There are many books there for us to look to and is a quiet place to study.
This is the front door to our room. There are eight of us girls in this room. We are on the first floor, so we don't have to hike up four flights upstairs like everyone else. We have one toilet, two showers, and two sinks off to the left before you enter our room. The second picture is of our bunk bed. I share with my friend Kylee Knoles. We each have our own seperate closet which is nice. It may be close living quarters, but we have all gotten along really well.
This is our classroom. It is fairly large, with a piano and computers. We have class and other meetings in here. The windows off to the side give us a wonderful view. The entire centre is just wonderful. I am so glad that I am able to stay here.

First Day Adventures

I finally arrived in London, England! I seriously can't believe it! I have created this blog in hope that I can keep you all updated with my adventures this summer. The trip began with my flight from Salt Lake City to New York and then from New York to Heathrow. It was such a long flight, especially because I was not able to sleep at all. I watched three movies and read part of my book to keep me occupied. This is a picture of my friend Kylee and I getting ready to leave in Salt Lake City.

Although the flight was long, it was great, because there were about ten of us from our group all on the same flight. It was fun to get to know everyone even before we arrived in Britain. This is a picture of most of us in the Heathrow airport waiting for our shuttle to take us to the BYU London Centre.
When we arrived at the centre we were so tired, but we knew that we couldn't go to sleep or we would have a difficult time getting over the jet lag. We got settled in our rooms, and then walked around the city. Down the road from the centre is Hyde Park. It is so beautiful and huge! There were so many people there too exercising and having picnics. I absolutely loved it! After the long long day I went to sleep exhausted...and thankfully slept through the entire night. Take that jet lag!
